Double Chocolate

This week was chocolate week. I had to make a chocolate with raspberry filling cake for a client who up until the end could decide if the event was going to happen or not. The event ended up being cancelled but they still wanted the cake.

On the other hand, I had to make a treat for work because each one of us take turns on Fridays. One of my co-worker keep ranting about my chocolate cake, so since I was working on one. Might as well.

Pink

Aside from my demo cake for a wedding that I'm really, really hoping to be hired for, I had another little cake for this week. Nothing fancy, the only thing different about this cake is that the icing is Strawberry flavor. This is something I had never done, but that was the request. Don't think that's the reason why the cake is pink. The flavor is colorless, but I know that pink is the favorite color of the client's daughter and the cake is for both of them. Here's the picture!

Here comes the Train

Apparently each cake that I make will have a story. Maybe it's just "starters luck"...LOL
Here's the story of this cake. I was told a month ago to do this cake, its for the birthday of a four year old. His mom is so excited about the cake that we've had several conversation about the cake.

Last night I was really tired, but it was baking time. I prepared my batter and placed my cake in the oven. Timer 30 minutes, went to my bedroom ( I was exhausted after work), laid down and turn on the TV so that i wouldn't fall asleep. 20 minutes into baking, the house filled with smoke and something was burning. I ran to the kitchen and it was coming from the oven. Weird! The cake pan had overflowed and some batter was at the bottom of the oven. I checked the cake with a toothpick. The toothpick was clean. I thought...hmm cake is ready. Took it out of the oven and set it up to cool off and went back to bed to sleep.

12 midnight after picking up my husband from work, I decided to take the cake out of the pan. It was cooked on the top and totally uncooked in the inside and bottom. TIP: DO NOT BAKE WHEN YOU'RE SLEEPY!!!!

So I threw it away and started prepping a new batter. Long story short, after cleaning the oven and starting the whole operation once again, by 2 am I had a perfect baked cake ( Thank God for the hours previously slept, otherwise i would not been able to get to work next morning)

Tonight decorating time. Mom was so excited about her baby's cake, she paid for it today and told me how much she was looking forward to it...No pressure huh!

Lavander 4th of July!

Trust me folks! I do know that on the 4th of July we are celebrating the Independence of the USA and that traditionally the colors are blue, red and white. However, the client gets what the client wants and I was hired to do a 4th of July cake...in lavander!

Tried a different technique to write. I think it looks a little better, but still needs some work. Comments are always welcome!

So just enjoy the picture and the celebration of this holiday!

Logos are here

As some of you know my brother has been working on our new website. He sent me the finalist for our new Logo. Of course, I wouldn't want to make a decision with the input of my dearest friends...meaning YOU! So which one do you prefer. This time you can only choose one!

Last Minute Cake

This one is not for votes, just sharing! I was contracted Monday for a cake for today. I thought I was not going to make it, but I did. Went to bed around 1 am, but here we are. Ahh! Ok, you can vote and tell me what you think about it. For last minute, lack of sleep and a house full of people, I think it looks pretty good. I do admit I have to work on my writing.
