First Computer

The truth on this cake is that it was supposed to just be a simple 6' round cake. I knew that the client wanted to recognize her employees for a hard work with one of my cakes. I saw this pan in the shape of a computer and couldn't resist to think that this would be the perfect cake for her. So I consulted with her and she agreed. It was not as hard as I thought it was going to be. With more time and more practice I would only make the keys different. Comments are always welcome.

New Record!

I know that this is a good beginning. This is the first weekend that I've been this busy since Memorial Day. At least that was only one cake...for those who remember, my final test wedding cake.

This weekend I had 3 cakes. As always, there are stories behind them. I baked everything Thursday, with delivery dates of Saturday night and Monday. Friday night I had made what I consider my second best cake since my "final test wedding cake". It was 11pm and I was trying to contact my mom. She wasn't answering the phone, which really concern me, because she's never out of her house. My cake was almost done, except for the last wooden support (2 tiers). I ran out of the house worried to find out that it was just that her phone was in silent and she never heard my 15 calls (bear in mind she's 76, her not answering the phone really freaks me out, especially at 11pm). Long story short, when I came back my top cake had collapsed on the bottom tier... Breathe!! Time to bake again.

Saturday am, take hubby to work and start decorating. The client loved it... honestly, I think I was soo tired and pissed off..I wasn't satisfied. Probably because I saw what the original cake looked like. You be the judge.

The first picture is so bright, you can't see the cake. But in the other one you can't see the topper. So I decided to post them both

Seeing that this cake had me so behind. Hubby decided to help.... Another lesson learned... Each person in this business should stick to their specialties and help only with what the expert says to help. He tried to bake my other cakes....He didn't distribute the batter evenly and the cakes came out of the oven looking like the elephant man or the hunchback of Notre Dame.

Sunday am I baked my cakes again. Headed out of the house to run errands while they cooled. Came back home at 8pm and here I am blogging the fruits of my labor. I think I'm also learning that I work better under pressure.

Here are the other two cakes:

This cake is for the birthday of a nine year old. She requested white butter cream icing, pink borders, hearts and flowers. I decided to make the hearts in little bows framing the cake.

This is a chocolate cake with regular butter cream icing. This one is for a ladies birthday. I went with a more stylish design also utilizing the colors ivory and gold. These colors remind me of her.

As always, feel free to comment...
